To support the work in the Telematics for Research sector it is
sometimes necessary to facilitate the introduction of new standards into
the relevant bodies. This page provides information on standardisation
issues for the projects within Telematics for Research.
Funding of Standards Contribution
The SCIMITAR Project administers a fund on
behalf of the European Commission to provide partial funding of travel
expenses to international standardisation meetings. The document Procedures for the Financing of the
Contributors to the Standards Process provides an explanation.

Information on Standards Bodies
More detailed information on the standards bodies supported by
Telematics for Research is available below:
- IETF
-
The IETF is the Internet Engineering Task Force, the protocol
engineering and development arm of the Internet. It is a large open
international community of network designers, operators, vendors, and
researchers concerned with the evolution of the Internet architecture
and the smooth operation of the Internet. It is
open to any interested individual.

promote the evolution of the World Wide Web. It is an industrial
consortium, jointly hosted by the Massachusetts Inst
itute of Technology Laboratory for Computer Science (MIT/LCS) in the
United States; the Institut National de Recherche en Informatique et en
Automatique (INRIA) in Europe; and the Keio University Shonan Fujisawa
Campus in Asia.
