Mark Handley (ISI) presented the new SIP draft (draft-ietf-mmusic-sip-03).
Changes in this revision include:
- Swapped 4xx and 6xx response codes to better match with HTTP.
- The CONFIRM header field has been removed.
- The CONNECTED and BYE methods have been added to make reliable
connection startup easier.
- All addresses have became URLs, which gives lots of flexibility.
For example, we can have an address of "phone://1-617-253-6011" to
relay to a phone network. Concern was expressed that a Session
Description could be done both by Session Description Protocol (SDP)
and URL; it was explained that URLs were more appropriate for simple
media (like a presentation), and SDPs for more complex ones.
Comments are requested, since the authors believe this specification to be
nearly complete.
